Shaq Announces His Retirement
NBA superstar Shaquille O'Neal has called it a career. The baller/actor/rapper played 19 unforgettable seasons in the league, and after an injury-plagued season with the Boston Celtics, Shaq is walking away from the game. He's giving an official press conference at the end of the week.
“We did it. Nineteen years baby," Shaq said in a video posted on his Twitter account. "Thank you very much. That’s why I’m telling you first: I’m about to retire. Love ya, talk to you soon."
Shaq entered the NBA as a devastating 21 year old with the Orlando Magic, became the most dominant force in the game alongside Kobe Bryant with the Los Angeles Lakers and helped Dwyane Wade win his first NBA title with the Miami Heat. He finished his last few years with the Phoenix Suns, Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston.
During his career, Shaq also starred in the movies Blue ChipsKazaam, and Steel and released four rap albums: Shaq DieselShaq Fu: The Return and Can't Stop the Reign and Respect.
