NAACP Criticize Police At Master P Show

NAACP Criticize Police At Master P Show
The NAACP branch in Terrebonne, Louisiana is blasting the police presence at a Master P concert this week. The head of the chapter claims that the officers very presence carried racial undertones and was unnecessary. There were reportedly almost 40 officers in attendance from Houma and Terrebonne's Police Departments, all wearing bulletproof vests at the City Club. Master P., Mystikal, Romeo and others were performing.
There was also a Narcotics Task Force and a SWAT team parked nearby.
The police say they were there due to other spring break events in the area, but local residents claim the police's concentration was in front of the City Club.
“It had racial overtones,” Jerome Boykin, head of Terrebonne's NAACP told The Houma Courier. “When you have white rock groups come to town you don't have this much.”

Kid Rock's NAACP Controversy

Kid Rock's NAACP Controversy
The NAACP has announced that they are honoring rap-rocker Kid Rock with their Great Expectations Award, and that bit of news didn't sit so well with some civil rights activists. The activists are angry that the NAACP is honoring an artist who has performed with the Confederate flag hanging as a backdrop on some of his sets.
“It’s a slap in the face for anyone who fought for civil rights in this country," said Detroit activist Adolf Mongo. "It’s a symbol of hatred and bigotry.”
Mongo seems to ignore the fact that Kid Rock made his name in Detroit as one of the more respected underground hip hop DJs in the city, and that Rock still has strong ties to the black community in Detroit and hip hop music in general.
“He has consistently lifted up the Great Expectations of many persons concerning the future of the city,” countered Detroit NAACP director Donnell R. White.
Kid Rock has stated in the past that he sees the flag as a symbol of southern rock.
