Mashonda Leaving "Love & Hip Hop"

Mashonda revealed in a recent interview with Hip Hop Weekly that she will not be returning to the VH1 reality show "Love and Hip Hop." The former Mrs. Swizz Beatz says that she feels the show misrepresents her and she has no desire to be a part of anything associated with the typical reality show drama, i.e. catfights and bickering.

“I really honestly did do the show to help Emily [B.] and help women across the United States, to let them know that you’re not the only one that can go through something like this {divorce and heartbreak}," Mashonda said. "No matter what I say, it’s going to be judged at the hundredth power, people are just going to look at me and judge. People are going to say I’m too emotional, or I need to get over it, or I need to move on, I’m bitter. A lot of people were actually saying (I) was strong, (I) made it out classy, (I) did everything (I) could, but when you do a show, you have to know what’s coming next, a world full of judgment.”

“I just don’t feel like at this point in my life, 'Love and Hip Hop' represents who I am, it’s just a chapter that is over," she added. " When I shot the show, I thought that it was going to be like more of a sisterhood, but when I saw a lot of the drama and the beef, I was a little surprised, I was like wow, okay, I didn’t know this was going to be apart of what this is.”

Mashonda's Bounced Back

Mashonda is enjoying her resurgence on the hit show "Love & Hip Hop." The former Mrs. Swizz Beatz had become a poster child for scorned women following her ex's stepping out with, and subsequent marriage to, Alicia Keys; but now Mashonda feels that she's a role model for women looking to rebuild their lives following a painful breakup.

"At the time that we shot [the show,] I was in a great place, so that’s what made the difference," Mashonda tells KING. "I felt like that was my therapy, and that’s all I wanted to do. Anytime I’d log in to Facebook or Twitter, there would be tons of women reaching out to me, thanking me for sharing my story. Those messages gave me a lot of strength, a lot of courage. From that point on, I just wanted to help women."

When asked her ever-growing fanbase of male 'groupies,' the sexy singer sets the record straight.

"I show everybody love," she says. "But I don’t like the word “groupie”-—it’s so harsh. I don’t feel there’s anything wrong with one person admiring another person."

How are you going to handle all the groupies that are sure to be coming your way?
You mean the groupie boys?

[Laughs] Oh, Lord, you know what, I show everybody love. But I don’t like the word “groupie”—it’s so harsh. I don’t feel there’s anything wrong with one person admiring another person.

Who is admiring you nowadays? Have you’ve been hitting the dating scene lately?
I have. I recently went on a date, and it was incredible.

Sounds like homeboy is getting a call back.
Yeah, definitely.

Mashonda Praises Swizz & Alicia Keys

Despite the dirt that was dished last summer during Mashonda and superproducer Swizz Beatz messy divorce and Swizz's subsequent marriage to superstar Alicia Keys, Mashonda seems to have found peace with the situation and is embracing her extended family in an open letter posted on her blog. Prepping for the debut of her reality show in two weeks, Mashonda shared her perspective on her family life and motherhood.

"As I reflect on my life, I realize how truly blessed I am," Mashonda wrote. "Not only am I the proud mother of my 4-year son Kasseem, I also now have a beautiful blended family to share in his love, development and overall health as a young man."

"As we grow and mature as women, even through break-ups and sometimes divorce, we realize that none of these things compare to the love we have for our children," Mashonda continued. "As a mother, Kasseem’s happiness is the single most important thing in my life. It took some time, but I now realize that even my former husband and his new wife, are my partners in this wonderful journey."
