Big Pun's Widow Slams Joell Ortiz

Big Pun's Widow Slams Joell Ortiz
Big Pun's widow, Liza Rios, has taken rapper Joell Ortiz to task over his song "Big Pun Is Back." Rios claims she found the song to be disrespectful--especially considering Ortiz didn't seek her blessing before using her late husband's name.
"A lot of people are asking how I feel bout Joell Ortiz's 'Big Pun is Back,'" she said. "Well it was a good attempt on Joell Ortiz part BUT a Big Pun he will Never be! Found it a bit disrespectful that he would say he the next Christopher Lee Rios to say the least.. With no regard to me and my family especially my son--Pun's only son--which should be the only one to claim that Big Pun is back.."
"lke let me tell u something, if Pun's torch is being passed down then it will be to his son it's his birthright. Not Joell." she continued. "And the fact that he didn't even ask to begin with to see if I was cool "passing the torch" is disrespectful! Point blank. At the end of the day, only how I feel matter cuz that's my husband, my name, my torch to pass!"

Somaya Reece On Latina Rappers

Somaya Reece On Latina Rappers:
Rapper/model Somaya Reece recently shared her perspective regarding the very small amount of Hispanic female rappers around the industry. There have been virtually no Latina rappers to make much national noise--outside of Angie Martinez, who's arguably more known as a radio personality than as an emcee. But Reece says that she is in a prime position to change things.
"I don't know why, that's so crazy, I've been asked that in all my interviews," Reece told SOHH. "I guess it's me. That's why I'm here...We actually do have one, she's in the Latin world. You may have to Google her. Her name is Ivy Queen and she's like the queen of Latin rap. She's like our goddess of Latin rap and reggaeton. She's like a really ill spitter and it's crazy. She's an older woman now but she's somebody that's really big for us. I just know that I'm definitely putting it down for the Latinas and I'm doing a very unique style of music. I'm grateful that we had someone come out with a heavy Latin influence and then we had Big Pun, Fat Joe, Joell Ortiz. I'm happy that there's more of us out there but as far as [the lack of] females, I don't know why but I know that I'm here now."

Joell Ortiz Is Sad & Lonely

Joell Ortiz Is Sad & Lonely
Slaughterhouse's Joell Ortiz seems to be a lonely guy.
The rapper recently opened up about his lack of love and his desire to find 'Mrs. Right.' Ortiz made his life sound quite lonely and isolated, and spoke candidly about his desire to share his world with somebody. He revisited a tweet that he posted some months back, pining that he hadn't found 'Her' yet.
"'Her' is Mrs. Yaowa," he told VIBE. "It's time for me to start celebrating with somebody. I'm tired of coming home to my little apartment. I don't want to deal with the phone book of shorties [or] the substitute for Mrs. Right. I had just sat down on my couch and thought about that. And I had my computer in front of me, so I put it out there. Some dudes were clowning, like, 'That's a lonely tweet!' But I also had girls hollering, like, 'Trust me! I'm her.' No one wants to be alone. I haven't met 'her' yet. 'Cause I think if I would've came across her, I would have focused and locked in."
