A borad, pleated waist sash worn with black tie underneath a dinner Jacket. The cummerbund was adopted by the British military in India during colonial times ( the word derived from kamar-band / kamar, meaning waist or loins and bandi, meaning band ).
The orizontial bleats were often worn facing up so that they could hold tickets.
