NBA All-Star Weekend was the spectacle everyone expected it to be. With Los Angeles as the backdrop, a rookie from the Clippers and a future Hall of Famer from the Lakers put on the biggest show for their hometown fans during b-ball's signature party.
On Saturday, forward Blake Griffin of the Los Angeles Clippers won the Sprite Slam Dunk Contest in memorable fashion, his final dunk was over a parked Kia with the Crenshaw Community Choir singing R. Kelly's 1995 hit "I Believe I Can Fly." Griffin's dunk capped a night where dunker's used everything from three basketballs to little kids to spice up the contest. Pop sensation Justin Bieber took home MVP honors at the Celebrity Game earlier in the day, running up and down the court alongside celebrities such as rapper/actor Common, crooner Trey Songz and new No Limit CEO Romeo Miller.
Sunday night's big game did not disappoint, with Los Angeles Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant winning his fourth All-Star MVP award and leading the West All-Stars to victory over the East, 148-143. This was despite Miami Heat star LeBron James--who posted the All-Star game's first triple-double since Michael Jordan did it in 1997.
Rihanna performed at halftime of the All-Star Game, bringing out her ex-beau Drake for the performance and surprisingly, Kanye West popped up at the end to perform his latest single, "All of the Lights," with Rih-Rih.
